About Brian Carlin
Cube Images was established in 2010 by photographer Brian Carlin.
Brian’s interest in sailing began early; at the age of nine he started sailing Mirror’s at Tralee Bay Sailing Club.
Naturally, his progression continued through various dinghy classes before he moved into keelboats.
While studying architectural technology in Waterford in 2002, Brian’s introduction to DSLR photography started.
Creative long exposures and light painting was his first experience with the possibilities of photography.
Over his college years both his interests of sailing and photography merged and this is how Cube Images formed.
Brian’s creative style and unique viewpoint to capture photos on the water was the reason he was chosen to be
the team photographer for “Aleph” the French challenger to the 34th America’s Cup.
The photographs from Brian’s first assignment at the America’s Cup World Series in Plymouth have been
selected for an exhibition by Louis Vuitton in Paris later this year.
Brian has also worked with the well known and respected yachting journalist Andy Rice on his new book
“Asymmetric Sailing” due for release in spring 2012. Brian’s photos from events in Ireland, like the SB3
Easterns in Howth will be published in the book
