A blustery start and middle to the Sail for Gold Regatta 2012 in Weymouth.
I’ve been here three days now and the wind has not been kind. Yesterday saw winds touch 35 knots at times and only a couple of classes managed to get some racing in. Namely our Olympic hopefuls Annalise Murphy, Matt McGovern and Ryan Seaton got a taste of the extreme conditions yesterday.
Overall the Irish Olympic team has been doing rather well and my particular attention goes to the 49er guys and Annalise who seem to be pushing hard and enjoying this venue.
Well, in terms of what I wanted to achieve here is certainly fading fast, If we don’t get racing today and it’s not looking great, currently gusting 54 knots, all work is going to rest on the last day, but alas it’ a medal race so if the current standings stay and no racing today we will see the 49er boys, the Star boys and Annalise make there move to podium standings tomorrow.
Well that’s about it for now, time to wait and drink coffee…
Some photos below from the one fine Wednesday evening we had so far….
